Reading is part of balanced diet

I have  met colleagues who grumble claiming  that reading is boring, tedious, taxing and other vocabularies that are in one taxonomic  unit with the stated. The same however admire successful, popular and famous figures in the world not knowing they have a rich history in reading. They even proceed to call them their role models and idolise them.

The C.E.O of Berkshire Hathaway and a billionaire Warren Buffet claims to spend 80% of his day reading books.  His Vice chairman Munger jokes that he reads so much, his children think he's "a book with a couple of legs sticking out."He proceeds to say: "Warren and I do more reading and thinking and less doing than most people in business. We do that because we like that kind of a life. But we've turned that quirk into a positive outcome for ourselves. We both insist on a lot of time being available almost every day to just sit and think. That is very uncommon in American business. We read and think."

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Space X,  has the same tune and he ever testified that when he was young he used to read a minimum of two books a day. When he was asked of how he learnt  to build  rockets, he simply answered: "I read from  books."  Another celebrity Oprah  Winfrey credits reading for helping her move from a childhood of poverty into a life of wealth. She says it inspired her to look beyond her meager beginnings and start thinking about how the world could be changed. Oprah claims to have started reading while she was 3 years old and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond their  farm in Mississippi.

These are just but few stories among many others that can be told such as about Mark zuckerberg and Bill Gates who read at least a book per week. The big question, however is; why should we read? Below are five reasons but not limited to this  stating why you should grab a publication for few hours daily.

1. Reading improves focus and concentration : When you are reading, you are training your mind to dwell keenly on a particular topic and maintain focus on it. After reading the mind applies the skills in other life businesses.
2. Reading contribute mightily to stress reduction: Stress is catapulted by much self sympathy and situations comparison due to indolence or inactivity. When one is reading the mind is taken captive to another imagination, fed with new ideas and finally programmed a fresh.
3. Reading is a catalyst to memory improvement: Reading taxes the brain to hold more items and therefore expands the storage space.
4. Reading  creates stronger analytical thinking skills: Information in the mind determines how people perceive various situations. When one reads he acquires new perspectives and ideologies about life. All publications address nothing less of life and how it can be lived if not where to live
5.Reading equips us with knowledge: Books and other publications address issues that effect and affect human being. When we read therefore we acquire a portion to solve our current issues. Reading promotes creativity, invention and innovation. The brain just need to be kindled and issues of life shall emanate from it.

LET US THEN BECOME CONVERTS OF THE READERS CHURCH

Quote of the day: You don't have to be a brain surgeon to be a valuable person.. You become valuable because of the knowledge that you have. And that does not mean you won't fail sometimes. The important thing is to keep trying. Ben Carson
